Introducing the Gaia, a truly sustainable sofa
Introducing the Gaia, A Truly Sustainable Sofa
As a part of their mission to be forward thinking in their approach, the new Gaia will revolutionise mass production upholstery, providing a circular vision for the consumer, retailer, manufacturer and most importantly the planet.
Designed in collaboration with architect and TV presenter George Clarke, the Gaia uses patent pending, Full Circle technology, which features innovative construction methods and componentry. The sofa is completely staple free, allowing each element to be quickly unclipped, unbolted and unscrewed with ease to completely dismantle the sofa. This result is a sofa where each individual part can be more easily recycled or repurposed at the end of its life.
George Clarke comments: “When Sofology approached me to design the Gaia there was one major driving force in doing this project, and that was to design the most sustainable, design-led and family friendly sofa money can buy.”
Kate Wright, Commercial Director for Sofology and Sustainability Director for DFS Group, comments: “Sustainable innovation will only succeed if they offer as good or better alternatives to other products. We are always looking for ways to improve the longevity of our sofas, and to increase product reuse and recyclability. This requires designing ranges with these ambitions in mind from the outset. We’re excited to introduce the Gaia, a product range that is not only leading in sustainable innovation but is also comfortable and stylish."
