About Maria Chany

MARIA CHANY is a visionary designer renowned for her boundary-pushing, utopia-inspired fashion that challenges societal norms and promotes sustainability.

Fusing organic and technological elements, her designs offer a futuristic vision of a harmonious world.

Committed to slow fashion, Maria Chany crafts each garment meticulously to ensure longevity and unique detailing, blending materials like denim, leather, and lace to create avant-garde designs that embody individuality. By incorporating industrial waste like car tire tubes, she emphasizes sustainability while adding a distinct aesthetic, challenging fashion norms and sparking dialogue on environmental responsibility within the fashion industry.

Maria Chany's Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "Terraforming," debuted at Berlin Fashion Week in July 2024. This collection examines humanity's cosmic ambitions alongside the imperative of Earth preservation. Following its impactful debut, the collection continued its journey through global stages, including Art Week in Berlin and Prague for Part 2, and in Dubai with Part 3.

Maria Chany stands out for its commitment to sustainability, inspiring a fresh and hopeful outlook for the future. This dedication to positive change is further reflected in Maria Chany’s role as a signatory of the Danish Fashion Ethical Charter, which promotes the well-being of fashion industry professionals and raises awareness around beauty ideals.

For her collection “ELYSIUM”, designer Maria Chany envisions a world where waste is a resource, reborn as fashion, intertwining sustainability and art. The idea is to represent a future where eco-consciousness and creativity coexist, and lead to the elysium, a place or state of perfect happiness. The designer took the sustainability requirements for Berlin Fashion Week as a starting point and inspiration for the collection. It builds on a previous capsule collection designed for Berlin Art Week which included the usage of worn-out rubber tire tubes. The show was held on World Cleanup Day, organised by the Feuerle Collection, and received great praise, prompting the designer to expand on creative projects involving sustainable fashion. The aim is to reclaim and re-purposes waste materials, turning discarded items into new and stylish fashion pieces. The collection features jackets, dresses and outerwear made from rubber, bio-materials made from nuts and deadstock fabric. Corsets and belts are crafted from old rubber tubes. Bold silhouettes, clean lines, geometric shapes and fluid draping are used to convey the balance between nature and technology.
