About Munthe

Munthe is a conscious heritage brand merging fashion with art. Founded back in 1994 in Copenhagen by Creative Director Naja Munthe as an artistic and craft-focused antidote to the contemporary fashion industry, known for its consciously curated styles rooted in art.

The essence of Munthe is the serenity every style is made with. From carefully selected, high-quality fabrics to delicate details in coating and lining, from tight and neatly construction to a commitment to low-impact production. For Munthe aesthetic is holistically: It is important that the clothes are not only pleasing on the outside, but also on the inside - as well as being responsibly produced.

Another signature of Munthe is the conceptual embodiment of contradictions and contrasts: soft silhouettes with a tailored touch makes for versatile styles that work across multiple occasions depending on how you style them. Timeless and expressive wardrobe staples rooted in art and craftsmanship.

A major part of Munthe's sustainability ambition is geared towards the design and production of their products. Munthe continually improve their sustainability performance by being conscious of selecting sustainable materials and production processes and following up with the suppliers.

Munthe want you to be proud of the products, their quality and how they are made - and think that they should maintain a critical sourcing, seeking to make gradual progress to choose more sustainable fabrics.

The sustainability requirements are an integrated part of the business strategy. It is composed of the Munthe policy framework; CSR strategy, Code of Conduct, preferred material list, animal welfare - and a climate, travel, packaging, wrapping & purchase policy.

Beyond the compliance obligations they have set up for themselves, they are committed to meet the binding requirements between Munthe and all relevant people involved.

Munthe AW25

For this collection, I drew significant inspiration from the university aesthetics of the 1970s, combining an intellectual style with a fresh, sporty energy and a metropolitan sensibility. The goal was to create a collection that feels effortlessly casual yet undeniably feminine, enhanced by a subtle, boyish edge. The overarching theme embodies vibrant ambition and individuality, seamlessly interwoven with a vintage appeal that is both aspirational and approachable. It’s a style that radiates confidence and charm, merging the sophistication of academia with the relaxed ethos of athleticism.

I often subvert my designs and styling with something unexpected to create a multidimensional visual expression. This interplay of contrasts adds versatility and depth. By challenging traditional expectations, it gives new perspectives on familiar elements, reimagining them in unexpected ways.

Through the use of sharp tailoring and intricate embellishments, I strive to continue to highlight MUNTHE’s dedication to craftsmanship. Balancing structured silhouettes with more fluid details, the collection embodies the duality of refinement and youthful rebellion that so vividly defined the era.”
— Naja Munthe, Creative Director and Founder of MUNTHE

The Fall/Winter 2025 collection is a showcase of layers and depth, embodying the distinct MUNTHE aesthetic with a strong nod to the 1970s. This influence comes to life through an array of faux fur, slim scarves, corduroy, and duffel jackets. A bold zebra print adds a striking yet cohesive element, featured across various styles, from shirts to accessories. The collection strikes a harmonious balance between relaxed elegance and structured silhouettes, presenting a fresh take on femininity infused with subtle masculine undertones.

MUNTHE’s accessory line evolves this season with exciting new additions, including the LAVILLA bag, suede sneakers, bag charms, and the debut of the LIX bag. Designed for versatility, the LIX bag is crafted from the softest leather and adorned with the signature MUNTHE logo. Its adaptable design and timeless appeal position it as a future MUNTHE heritage piece. We are thrilled to announce that this collection will include pieces inspired by the iconic Looney Tunes characters, which are seamlessly integrated into the collection. In collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP) this partnership brings a unique counterpoint to MUNTHE’s feminine universe, adding an unexpected edge.

Art and supporting female artists are at the core of MUNTHE. This season, we have featured Stockholm-based artist Emma Larsson, known for her colorful dreamscapes and melancholic art. Hues from her work – such as bordeaux, navy, and camel – are woven throughout the collection, adding depth and inspiration.

A Journey Towards A More Responsible Future

It has always been core to the MUNTHE brand to constantly reflect on how we conduct ourselves. Being a fashion brand, we acknowledge that, by nature, we are in an industry that faces challenges regarding responsibility. However, we believe that by using our brand as a powerful platform, we can initiate small changes that will accumulate into bigger ones over time.

We interpret responsibility holistically and believe that we are on a never-ending journey, constantly exploring and evaluating how to best invest in progress. We need to take an honest look at all aspects of our production, from increasing the amount of certified fabrics in each collection to providing the best working conditions for our employees and suppliers. To ensure this, we conduct a third-party audit annually.

Of the styles made from mainly cotton in the fall/winter 2025 collection, 86% are made with certified organic cotton. Additionally, 76% of the styles consisting of mainly lyocell or viscose are of certified materials, Lenzing™ Ecovero™ or Tencel™.

During 2024, we published our first responsibility report. You can find the report and more about our five commitments on MUNTHE.com.
