A Surprise Win

Gasps echoed through the winners' room when Mikey Madison claimed the best actress award. Despite the race tightening after Madison's BAFTA win, many still considered Moore the favourite.

The victory represents a career-defining moment for the 25-year-old Madison, who catapulted from relative obscurity to Oscar winner with her breakthrough performance in "Anora."

Her meteoric rise embodies the quintessential Hollywood success story that both audiences and the Academy celebrate—a narrative of sudden stardom that mirrors the themes of "Anora" itself.

Defying Gravity

In a show-stopping moment, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande delivered a spellbinding performance of "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked" that exceeded all expectations.

The audience erupted into a standing ovation as Erivo, elegantly dressed in white, hit the powerful final note with breathtaking precision.

The dynamic duo also presented a carefully crafted medley featuring "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," with Grande opening the sequence in a stunning red sequined gown that captured the magical essence of the film.
